Week 31 | Disposable Bags | 52 Weeks to Downsize & Minimalize

Grocery bags of all sorts become a wild mess in the cabinets. Soon they are stuffed between the cracks of the stove, wall, and refrigerator. Before you know it, Disposable Bags can take over your life!

What to do:

Not going to be 100% committed to using washable and reusable bags for the groceries (such as my favorite, compact ChicoBag)? It may be time to establish a dedicated space for the bags you do bring home. This way, they can be found and reused next time.

It’s easy to make sure you have these Disposable Bags in an easy area for your home, which will help you minimize clutter!

Week 29 | Packaging | 52 Weeks to Downsize & Minimalize

Packaging takes up a great deal of space in a typical home we declutter and organize. Think about the large cardboard box smaller packages come in when you shop in bulk, the extra plastic paper towels come in, the space wasted in a box of tea that only has 2 packets remaining.

How To Find Extra Space In Your Home

Excess packaging creates additional steps to get what you need and is not as aesthetically pleasing as individually displaying items on a shelf, in a cabinet, or on a counter.

This week, free whatever you can from the excess packaging that confines it. Here are ideas:

• Dry cleaner clothes from the plastic
• Multi-pack bottles from the plastic shrink wrap
• Snacks bars from the box
• Oranges from the bag

Downsize and minimalize cardboard, paper, and plastic packaging from your life this week. Please recycle. Before you know it, you are going to have space where you forgot you even had free space in the past!

Week 28 | Loose Change | 52 Weeks to Downsize & Minimalize

You’ve been collecting Loose Change in bowls and jars around the house, on the dresser, and in the car. It’s lingering and gathering dust. It’s great to have the extra cash, but it takes up space and worth less if not gaining interest or being used.

What to do with your Loose Change

This week, gather the loose coins and deposit them at the bank or a coin changer (such as CoinStar) at your local grocery store. With CoinStar you can get cash, choose a NO FEE option, or donate your coins to charity. Get the loose change out of your life and start fresh again.

Don’t let this change take over all of the nooks and crannies in your home!

Week 27 | Perfectionism | 52 Weeks to Downsize & Minimalize

It’s honorable to be the one working the hardest to get the job done. You are able to see and act on things with detail more than others and spend time making your home the most picture-perfect it can be. But perfectionism doesn’t always come without a sacrifice to the physical, mental, or emotional well-being. Not just to ourselves, but also to those around us!

How To Get Your Life Back

Take a break from feeling that everything has to look just right. Everyone doesn’t have to be exactly on time, and things don’t have to happen perfectly. Slow down, stop, and let it be. Feel the cool winds of “letting go” blow through your hair this weekend and soon, minimalizing perfectionism will naturally allow things to fall perfectly into place.
